Books
With our book series and book titles, our program covers all disciplines of human medicine and related sciences.
Any Discipline of Human Medicine and Related Sciences. All in One Place.
With roots that run deep in publishing, our portfolio in books has a strong trunk with many branches. More than 9,000 titles are available to you at this very moment. From scientific book series and monographs to Fast Facts – our medical handbooks for healthcare professionals and patients – our book program covers all disciplines of human medicine and related sciences.
Over the past years, our selection has shifted from specialized, state-of-the-art research topics to titles with an emphasis on clinical and practical relevance. Certain specialities are now available in several subcategories. For example, we are the only publishing company offering a complete, in-depth and up-to-date coverage of research on the retina, a subspecialty of both ophthalmology and pediatric endocrinology.
What Does the Future of Books Look Like?
Responding to the need of authors, editors and readers to make content available more quickly, book chapters will become available and citable by DOI as soon as they're ready for publication without waiting for the whole volume to be completed. This is our first step in rethinking long-form content.

Support throughout the entire publication process
I was introduced to Karger through my work with the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders. I was the lead author of Fast Facts in Dementia and Augmentative and Alternative communication.
Karger was the most supportive publishing house and editorial team. They set realistic deadlines, were flexible when we were somewhat delayed, and answered all our questions quickly. We felt very supported throughout the whole publication process. Karger was also open to suggestions for additional materials, e.g., they embraced our idea of a freely downloadable poster to go along with the book. I would welcome working with Karger at any point in the future and would strongly recommend them to all colleagues as a place to go to make a pitch for a future publication.Janice Murray, PhD, FRCSLT, Professor of Communication Disability (AAC), Faculty of Health and Education, Manchester Metropolitan University

Fantastic opportunity for young scientists
The most important thing in building a career is to make sure that everything you do is of high quality, because it represents you. It's extremely comfortable working with Karger because the Karger brand is well known, and their publications are high quality. I'm amazed at how strong the subject knowledge was from the editing team and it was easy working with them. Writing a FastFacts book is a fantastic opportunity for young doctors. We do plenty of writing in an academic setting, but working with a professional editor is a really good experience and improves your writing.Richard Buka, Ph.D. student / Haematologist in training

Support and understanding for young authors
I wrote the book “Does a Monster Eat My Hair?” [Frisst ein Krebs die Haare auf] as my high school senior project and did not have any way of marketing it or any experience in doing so. So I was very happy that a large, well-known and well-connected medical publisher took on the marketing and printing and thus made it possible for this book to reach the public and to help people affected by this issue. Karger gave me a great deal of freedom and accepted the book for the most part as I had written it. Nonetheless with their knowledge and experience they were also able to help me to improve the book.Grit Brunner, Medical student
