South Main Trolley Night Is Back!

South Main Trolley Night Is Back!

"Trolley Night" is the last Friday of the month and the longest-running street festival in the city.

During Trolley Night, shops and galleries host open houses, usually with some live music, free drinks and snacks, and special openings or events. Restaurants and bars will also dish out specials for the occasion too.

It's a time to explore the South Main Arts District and find all those places you didn't know were open. If the weather is nice, you can expect a pretty good crowd.

While riding the trolley is a great, fun way to get from one end of Main Street to the other, for Trolley Night I actually recommend taking a walk so you can wander in and out of places, talk to people, and pick a new place to eat.

I always go to the @southmainmem Instagram account or Facebook page to see the specifics for each month, whether that's an art opening at Urevbu Contemporary Gallery, a DJ at Central Station, or music at South Main Sounds. I always love starting at Stock & Belle. For the first trolley night they're hosting a Women's Month Pop-Up featuring a bunch of women-owned shops.

June Trolley Night 2024

Here are a few of the announced events and specials for Trolley Night but there will be so many more! Just walk around and see what you can discover.

  • Stock & Belle's Meet the Artist | Mary-Ellen Kelly, a mixed media artist, but also dabbles in photography and salvaging antique/vintage windows. Meet her + see her collection of work.
  • "Songs of Summer” Trolley Night at ARRIVE Memphis | Get ready to groove and sip on drink and food specials from Longshot, Bar Hustle, and Hustle & Dough inspired by 2024's hottest tracks. DJ Avious turns up the heat at Longshot at 9pm with beats from Beyonce, Billie, Sabrina, and more.
  • Jasper Float Spa & Wellness will have a silent disco spa experience, mocktails, and free chair massages!

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
