It is helpful but not necessary. You can use the app to do shadow boxing at home, then already know the combos you want to master on a boxing bag when you hit the gym.

Tip: For a sweaty, challenging training, try shadow boxing with dumbbells in your hands!

Heavy Bag Pro is good for all levels of experience. But if you are a beginner, we’d suggest you to go through the very basics first – learn the stance and punches, so you’d be able to train efficiently and safely, without hurting yourself. But rest assured, beginners will learn a LOT with Heavy Bag Pro.

There are two versions: free and premium. With the free version, you get three full workouts (one in every discipline) and a boxing round timer (without ads). If you want to unlock all the workouts and other features, you’ll need to upgrade to premium. But don’t worry, a monthly subscription costs less than a one-time visit to most of the gyms. And it’s worth it!
