Eclipse is more picky about some things, like the security of imports in groovy. Working around this in the unit test.

Initial work to upgrade from groovy 2.x to groovy 3.x. This primarily affects the unit test framework, which is also updated to spock 2.x and junit5 (with stubs for junit4 backward compatibility).
