In document applications it is common to open an untitled document at startup. However, if the first thing a user does after startup is open a file, that is generally considered a sign that the untitled file is not desired, and it is 'replaced' with the opened file. (If the untitled file has been edited, of course it stays open)
It would be nice if the IDE could do that, as it would avoid wasting real estate on an unused document, or user time closing it.
