It would be nice if there were at least two built-in color schemes for background + syntax coloring, one for dark background and one for light background.

One could have a list of color schemes, where one can select which one is active and add/edit custom ones. This list would include the built-in ones.

This was implemented in @vdonnefort's recent pr. There's now a default and a dark theme, and custom themes can be saved and switched-between.
