Paschalis has a longstanding PR #11640 to support per-write request metadata. Such a change is necessary to properly support things like OTLP and other ecosystem projects. His work should be integrated/adapted to work with the new remote write 2.0 format, meaning we should intern all strings from the metadata in the write request's symbol table.
