When we translate it in the UI, then also labels the user intentionally entered in English might be translated to other languages. Also image titles would still be in English.

Note that some labels come from location data, so you'd also need to translate all OpenStreetMap categories.

I've renamed my categories to German. Then I started a full reindex, and it seems that my translated categories are also used in the auto generated titles and keyword fields. This looks promising. Of course, changing the language again would require me to execute a full reindex again.

It looks like it might work if you first try to guess the categories, get the translated labels and then use them everywhere in the meta data.

Adding more translations should trigger a partial reindex of the untranslated categories.

When you restarted the full reindex with your translated categories, did you lose faces or they stayed in place?

Note that auto generated titles are updated in the background, just not instantly but over time. So a full rescan is not strictly required.

I'm sorry, but I cannot remember what happened to them.

@noliveleger Indexing does not remove tagged faces or created albums etc
