@CharliePoole (2) That is what the linked example makes possible... Although that might not be instantly apparent from it... I have done a bit of trimming down and the following seems to actually work:

Although it seems to return the line where the body starts. So e.g:

    public class Unit
    {
        public void Method1() { //Returns this line number

        }


        public void Method2()
        { //Returns this line number

        }

        public void Method3()


        { //Returns this line number

        }
    }

But otherwise your able to use it as:

        [Test]
        public void Bug()
        {
            Type t = typeof (Unit);
            MethodInfo m1 = t.GetMethod("Method1");
            MethodInfo m2 = t.GetMethod("Method2");
            MethodInfo m3 = t.GetMethod("Method3");

            StackTraceSymbolProvider p = new StackTraceSymbolProvider();
            string str1 = p.GetSourceLoc(m1);
            string str2 = p.GetSourceLoc(m2);
            string str3 = p.GetSourceLoc(m3);

            string str = str1 + "\r\n" + str2 + "\r\n" + str3;
            Assert.That(str, Is.StringContaining("Program.cs:39"));
            Assert.That(str, Is.StringContaining("Program.cs:45"));
            Assert.That(str, Is.StringContaining("Program.cs:52"));
        }

As you can see, it just takes a MethodInfo... (The StackTraceSymbolProvider is now a bad name after I trimmed it down as It has nothing to do with StackTrace anymore, but didn't get around to rename it)

There is still allot of work that could be done in re-factoring and trimming to make it a better fit, but at least it's now a decent starting point.
