Some notable details are:

  • I've linked to a regex101 session in the .vale.ini config file. This session includes some unit tests for matching shortcodes via IgnorePatterns.
  • Some of the entries in dictionary.txt would probably be better handled with inline comments. In other words, if you have to write something that's a one-off style violation, you may want to simply use <!-- vale off --> instead of adding an exception.

The new directory structure is

.vale.ini
ci/
├── vale/
│ ├── dictionary.txt
│ ├── styles/
       ...
...

where .vale.ini is the main config file, dictionary.txt is your personal dictionary, and styles/ contains your Vale styles (currently just Linode).

If there's anything you want changed or added (maybe updating CONTRIBUTING.md?), let me know. Also, assuming you agree with the output above, I can go through and get the CI build passing too.

Made an initial pass through the dictionary. Some entries need to be removed.

Could use a rebase after #1489 and #1490 gets merged to see if anything got missed.

I've updated the dictionary according to your feedback. However, it appears that:

  • "Automattic" can be found in cms-overview.md (the dictionary is case insensitive). So, I've left it in the dictionary for now.
  • "deeplearning" was detected due to this line, which seems to be a formatting error?

I've rebased on top of #1489 and #1490 and after your latest changes, it looks like we're down to 12 errors. Of those, it appears "ws", "Hilights", and "subfile(s)" are dictionary candidates?

@GuessWhoSamFoo

@jdkato I addressed the remaining errors via c12d6f8 . From reading the docs, ws, Hilights, and subfile(s) can be added to the dictionary.

Ping once Vale passes and I'll merge.
