https://github.com/kubernetes/community/blob/master/contributors/design-proposals/thirdpartyresources.md#migration-from-existing-tpr sketches out how migration could be done, but the devil is in the details. We need to try the migration using the CRUD available now, actually see the pieces work, and see if we can think of improvements or ways to make it easier.
