Drawing random pixels is currently twice as fast under Pixel as Ebiten (28fps vs 14fps): https://gist.github.com/peterhellberg/0ef7eb4ecab768d51ce2171eb9bb5636
On my machine that is (MacBook 12" 1.3GHz i5 running macOS 10.13.3)

Note that creating images every frame was not bottle neck.
