We should have some level of documentation for new contributors. Currently, our readme is okay but includes a lot of information that a new contributor might get overwhelmed by and miss important things.

We should put together a small-ish CONTRIBUTING.md file that outlines the basic steps for contributing, how to reach us, and to encourage readers to be eager to reach out, as we do not bite :)
