CIGIE

What is CIGIE?

The Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) is an independent entity established within the executive branch to address integrity, economy and effectiveness issues that transcend individual Government agencies and aid in the establishment of a professional, well-trained and highly skilled workforce in the Offices of Inspectors General.

To learn more information about CIGIE, visit IGNET and CIGIE's YouTube channel.

What is CIGIE Shared Services?

CIGIE Shared Services is a working group under the CIGIE Information Technology Committee. The goal of the group is to identify and recommend shared services that benefit the Inspectors General community. The group is staffed by volunteers from across various Inspectors General offices and is always looking for more help. If you would like to get involved, get in touch with your CIGIE Information Technology Committee representative.

CIGIE on GitHub Enterprise Cloud

CIGIE on GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) is one of many shared services identified and implemented for the benefit of the CIGIE community. The goal of this service is to provide an easy way for Offices of Inspectors General (OIGs) to collaborate on software projects and to share code. The service is available to all OIGs.

Onboarding Instructions

If you're a member of an IG and you'd like to get involved with CIGIE on GHEC please contact github@cigie.gov to initiate the onboarding process. A CIGIE GHEC administrator will provide you with the User Agreement and Rules of Behavior after identity verification. These steps must be completed and the provided documents must be signed prior to receving a user license. Additionally, each member of your IG seeking a user license must complete their own onboarding process.

Setup GitHub

  1. Please create a GitHub account using your officially issued email address from your IG.
  2. After creating your new GitHub account, you need to verify your account.
  3. Then, you need to configure two-factor authentication (2FA). There are various methods for doing so but this is required for all accounts.
  4. Email CIGIE GHEC administrators github@cigie.gov. Please see the section below, Email Instructions, for details.

⚠️ CIGIE GHEC administrators will ONLY accept officially issued email addresses. Any user license requests from unofficial sources will be discarded immediately without further consideration, no exceptions.

Email Instructions

Please structure your email to github@cigie.gov in the following manner.

[Subject Line]: CIGIE - GHEC Onboarding - User License Request

[Body]:

The email to the CIGIE GHEC administrators should include your...

- IG
- Position
- Full name

- Intended contributions on the platform for the benefit of the CIGIE community
  1. After initial verification, you will be provided with the User Agreement and Rules of Behavior by CIGIE GHEC administrators. Review, sign, and return these documents.
  2. You're all done! 👏 You should receive a notification by email once you've been granted access with an invitation to the CIGIE GHEC environment.
