  • There is a shorthand URL https://aka.ms/getwinget for downloading the latest stable client of WinGet. Updated to use that instead of the GitHub retrieval method.
  • WinGet also has a dependency of WinUI XAML 2.7. Updated the doc to download this dependency as well

Hmm... this is related to #4370 and #4332 ...I'm looking back through some discussions to see where we landed on this dependency and using the aka link.

I'll also mention microsoft/winget-cli#1861 for more discussions around the topic and the Sandbox script over at winget-pkgs repo.

I believe the aka.ms link was created by @denelon a while back
