I'm curious why the commit 5df2d1f was removed in the newest version.

I had to put this back in manually, to override Bootstrap's image-based sprites.

The overrides were causing more problems in other places. Seemed easier to remove them and point people in the documentation to customize their bootstrap installation here:
http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/download.html

Just make sure to uncheck the "Base CSS > Icons" to make sure they're not included. It's in the documentation, but isn't as obvious for people who are already using it.
