3.1.3 Symbols (pictographic or ideographic that represent concepts) (User Story)
Description:
These additions account for visual clarity, universal design principles, user preferences, and consistency, ensuring symbols are both helpful and adaptable for diverse user needs.
Current Wording:
This user story also includes the following user needs:
- I need symbols to help understand essential content, such as controls and section headings.
- I need symbols that I understand and are familiar to me (recognizable, personalizable or commonly used symbols).
- I need symbols placed above the text to link the meaning of the words with the images.
Proposed Additions:
- I need the symbols to be large enough and visually clear, with sufficient contrast, so I can easily distinguish them.
- I need symbols to avoid cultural or contextual ambiguity, ensuring they are universally understood or customizable to my specific context.
- I need the option to toggle or hide symbols if they become distracting or unnecessary for me.
- I need consistent placement and design of symbols throughout the site or application to help me build familiarity and confidence in navigating.
