Ran into the exact same thing (during a Gitlab to Github migration), would be awesome to be able to link back to our old Gitlab instance for extra merge request context etc. |

Hi,
We recently migrated our repository from GitLab to GitHub.
So the repository contains lots of merge commits created by GitLab merge request.
Commit messages of those commits look like this (see document):
GitLab uses
{repository}!{id}
as a merge request reference format, while GitHub uses{repository}#{id}
for pull request and issue.I want to set
org/project!
as a reference prefix, but I cannot do that and instead getReference prefix must only contain letters, numbers, or .-_+=:/#
.It would be great if
!
can be used in a reference prefix.Related to #37556
