Personally I'm a big fan of feather icons and I feel they really meet the minimalist aesthetic and choice of lxl. |

I personally think icons are more recognizable when they're not just outlines. For example, while I don't love the Remix icons example above, I do like the filled alternatives the Remix pack provides.
The Material icons (detailed floppy disk icon version) are good too, but something about how skinny the search icon looks feels off. |

A potential issue is that icon fonts generally hate filled icons as it involves complex filling rules whereas fonts are essentially outlines. Maybe if our renderer supports SVGs then this will be different. |

Hmm that's unfortunate, I have no clue how the rendering works, but having SVG support would hopefully make things more flexible and extensible. I can see the widgets library really taking advantage of that |

Currently lite-xl's icons are from fontello (FontAwesome 4). From what I observe FontAwesome tends to provide different variation (outline, filled, thin) of for icons for the free tier to force you to get the pro icons. This means that the iconography is quite inconsistent (some are outlines, some are filled, etc).
I did a little googling to find alternative icons.
A classic choice.
