This deprecates removal of the CSI nodepublish path by kubelets. This must be handled by the CSI plugin.

Fixes #101332

Yes

Removal of the CSI nodepublish path by the kubelet is deprecated. This must be done by the CSI plugin according to the CSI spec.

Hi @dobsonj. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a kubernetes member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work. Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

sorry about keep going back and forth on this but - we should be explicit in comment as well that we are only deprecating support for removing NodePublish target_path, removal of parent directories are still a responsibility of kubelet.

So something like:

Deprecation: Removal of target_path provided in NodePublish RPC call (in this case location dir)
MUST be done by the CSI plugin according to the spec.
This will no longer be done directly as part of TearDown by the kubelet in the future.Kubelet will only be
responsible for removal of json data files it creates and parent directories.
