Regression?

I don't know, I started using Hyprland only recently

System Info and Hyprland Version

'hyprctl systeminfo' gives : HYPRLAND_INSTANCE_SIGNATURE not set! (is hyprland running?)
'Hyprland --systeminfo' gives : '[ ERROR ] Unknown option '--systeminfo'!
usage: Hyprland [arg [...]].'

Description

I wanted to test a tiling manager. I was in ubuntu 24.04 / Wayland on a RK3588 rockchip, working fine for a year. I upgraded to Ubuntu 24.10 so that I could install Hyprland from repo.
After install (and adding xdg-desktop-portal-wlr), I tested to run 'Hyprland' in terminal, that just crashed (with the same constant behavior if reproduced).
As per the output, I added 'debug:disable_logs = false' at the end of the hyprland.conf file, and retried, but did not see any change in logs.
according to my readings, Hyprland should run in that context

How to reproduce

install hyprland in an ubuntu 24.10 machine that runs on rk3588 chip, and launch 'Hyprland' in a terminal.

you might need to build with legacy renderer

I don't even know what the f a rockchip rk3588 is, but if it supports Wayland, we should support it.

However, your version is so outdated it remembers the american declaration of independence, so please for the love of god update before opening an issue.

Ubuntu has very outdated packages, so either you build the entire wayland stack from scratch, or just use something that isn't perpetually out of date.

Legacy_renderer might be a thing to consider as well, but I'd try without it first.

Ho, I see, not using repo then. I'm reverting to 24.04 (too much errors).
Ok, thx.
