We support code profiling of our stan model but have not made as much use of it as we should. A sensible first tasks would be to use profiling on all our examples (in inst/example) and record which areas of the code are taking the most run time (and how this changes across the examples).

Describe the solution you'd like
Profiling reports for all examples and a summary of between example similarities and differences. A series of issues highlighting pain points and suggested solutions (if possible).
