Mark xCAT Deprecated in December #2
Comments
The xCAT community is in talks with IBM and Lenovo to move the project under the community mangement, and they have agreed in principle. The actual details of the move will take time to crystallize, but in the meantime, the project isn't being archived anymore. |
Thanks @samveen. We've been keeping an eye on it as Lenovo apparently forked it as Confluent at hpc.lenovo.com. I'm going to leave this item open for now until it all settles down. |
@akail Confluent is actually a complete rewrite of the xcat2 (as xcat2 was a rewrite of xCat) , by the same person who started the xCAT2 project: Jarrod Johnson (He works for Lenovo, earlier at IBM till Lenovo bought parts of IBM), so both can be listed seperately. I've seen Jarrod mention that confluent was the equivalent of xCAT3 It predates confluent.io, however Apache Kafka and confluent exploded and bacame the title holder for that name 😆 .
