- In the multiplayer modes, you can use either a Link Cable or a pair of Wireless Adapters to connect the GBAs. The communication device is autodetected.
- When using a Link Cable, the console with the 1P end of the cable will be the host. The host always selects the song.
- If you want to force the cable mode, hold L before entering a multiplayer mode (the screen will display: Connecting... [cable] instead of the regular message).
- When using Wireless Adapters, the consoles connect to each other automatically.
- If you want to play as host, hold R before entering a multiplayer mode (the screen will display: Connecting... [wireless / host] instead of the regular message).
- If none of the players use the R button, a host is randomly picked.
- Any player can abort a song by pressing A+B+START+SELECT.
- Any player can exit multiplayer mode by pressing SELECT.
- In this mode, the players battle against each other. The one with the higher score wins.
- If both players die, a Stage Break will be triggered.
- The game will indicate at all times who is winning by making the winning player's life bar bounce.
- The host and the guest can opt to play in different difficulty levels. In that case, the evaluation will change:
- Same level: The judgement is based on points. If one player dies, it stops adding points.
- Different levels: The judgement is based on dance grade percentage. Dying is not relevant in this mode.
- In this mode, the players play together a Double chart and share the score.
- Multiplier changes are shared.
- Playing this mode is the only practical way of completing the charts labeled with ;), as these are exclusive co-op charts.
