Open Model Initiative (OMI)

Welcome to the Open Model Initiative (OMI)!
OMI is a collaborative open-source project dedicated to supporting the development of openly licensed baseline AI models for image, video, and audio generation. Our mission is to support open community development of these models, enabling individuals and organizations to use and augment them in their own solutions.

Stay Updated

Join our community on Discord to receive regular updates, announcements, and participate in discussions. We host bi-weekly all-hands calls where our Technical Steering Committee (TSC) and working groups provide updates on progress and upcoming initiatives. You can also access notes from these calls on our Discord server.

  • Discord: Join Here
  • All-Hands Calls: Every other Thursday at 10:00 AM EST

Technical Steering Committee (TSC)

The TSC oversees all technical aspects of the OMI project, including:

  • Coordinating the technical direction of the project
  • Approving proposals, including incubation and deprecation of sub-projects
  • Organizing and managing sub-projects and working groups
  • Establishing community norms, workflows, and release schedules
  • Appointing representatives to work with other open-source communities
  • Approving and implementing policies for contributions and security

TSC Meetings

All TSC meetings are open to the public and are conducted via teleconference on Discord. Ad-hoc meetings are planned via our Discord server, and our regular all-hands calls happen every other Thursday at 10:00 AM EST.

Technical Charter

OMI operates under the following Technical Charter:
