When I export this env variable instead of using Wayland it refuses to launch

I assume you have set these values in the Windows Registry as explained here?

Yeah but I was just gonna set Wayland and see what happens

Okay I just did that by editing the file but it still looks for an x session instead of using Wayland

This is not supposed to work. Sommelier is set up to do XWayland passthrough only, not native Wayland.
