Issue Details

I have seen a number of online articles mentioning similar problems, which state that they have already been solved by an upgrade or by adjusting some settings, but these are not true, at least not for me.

When AdGuard is enabled, often web pages do not load properly and seem to freeze, or emails are received late.
In these cases, switching AdGuard off and on again temporarily solves the problem, but it will come back.

What makes this tricky for me is that so far I have not been able to narrow down the specific conditions of the outbreak and have no idea how to prevent the problem from happening.
I can fix the problem after it has happened, but it would be terrible if I faced this problem when I am in a very hurry for whatever reason.

Ah, here we go again.
It looks like the loading has stopped.
In this case, simply stopping the ongoing loading and then trying to load again doesn't help.
I have to toggle AdGuard off and on again.

Also, if this happens when I try to post on a message board or similar, the post never makes it to the server.
No matter how long I wait, it doesn't work, so I have to give up and switch AdGuard off and on.
The process is stopped immediately, and if I press the post button again, it's sent correctly right away.

Would a log exported 10 minutes after a problem occurred be useful?

@raki-can Hi!
Open Recent activity log after loading the affected website (for example, bbc.animanch.com). Do you see any blocked requests related to the website?

Would a log exported 10 minutes after a problem occurred be useful?

To find the cause of this problem, we need to take a look at the debug logs. Would you mind collecting the logs by following the steps below?

  1. Enable debug logging:
Settings -> General -> Advanced -> Logging level -> Debug.

  2. Reproduce the problem, then remember the exact time when it happened.

  3. Collect logs:
Settings -> General -> Advanced -> Export logs and system info.

  4. Send this file to qa@adguard.com:

    • include [android] keyword and 5546 in the subject of your email
    • specify the exact time when the issue occurred

OK, I'll change the debug log settings right away so I can use it again if the problem occurs again.

As I mentioned in my first post, I have no idea why this problem occurs.
When I'm viewing a website that usually works fine, and I've just viewed a page a few minutes ago, when I try to open another page, it ends up like the screenshot.

I have no idea how to reproduce it or what the conditions are, and it always happens suddenly.
I can usually use "bbs.animanch.com" as shown in the screenshot without any problems.
But suddenly, without any warning, I can't load or post on the bulletin board properly.
It doesn't happen only on certain sites, or only on certain Wi-Fi spots. It doesn't happen at certain times, and I can't think of any common operations.

Anyway, I don't have any clues at the moment.
I'll just change the log level settings for next time and hope that it helps in the end.

@raki-can Got it.
We are waiting patiently for the problem to occur again.
Could this be a temporary interruption of the Internet on the network?

@Versty A few hours ago this problem occurred again and after taking a screenshot and recording the time of occurrence, I tried to email the log file, but due to file size restrictions I could not attach the log file directly to the email.
Can I upload the log file here?

I then did some testing on the problem that occurred and was able to make some very important findings.

  • This time the problem occurred in "bbs.animanch.com"
  • When I tried to make a post on the forum, the process stopped, confirming that the problem had occurred.
  • Immediately afterwards I could not reload another thread on the same site.
  • However, when I went to a tab on another website (rikunabi-yakuzaishi.jp/) that was already open, it appeared to load correctly, and when I tried tapping a link on the page to open another page on the same site, it worked fine.
  • However, opening the "bbs.animanch.com" tab again and trying to reload it again did not change the situation
  • I turned AdGuard off -> on as usual and everything was back to normal

This showed me that "not all websites are affected by the problem" and that "it is not simply a communication problem unrelated to AdGuard, with the whole internet connection being temporarily unstable".
However, this is not a problem specific to "bbs.animanch.com".At the very least, similar problems also occur with "https://news.yahoo.co.jp/" where pages can fail to load.
