Freeman Fire: 32K acres burned near Oracle, evacuations lifted

Evacuations have been lifted amid the Freeman Fire, which sparked in a remote area of Pinal County in the Black Mountains.

The fire was first reported on July 11 and has grown to 32,568 acres. It was caused by two separate lightning strikes that eventually merged into one fire.

Officials said the fire was active on all sides and a crew from Tucson had been assigned to contain it.

It was listed at 100% containment as of July 18. All evacuation orders have been lifted for the Willow Springs Ranch area. All roads in the area have reopened.

The spark was one of three new wildfires that began on July 11. The others were the Watch Fire in Gila County and the Gemstone Fire in Mohave County.
