I currently own Cubase 12 Pro, and I’m looking to get an upgrade to 13 Pro. I’m in Korea, and the exchange rate is making the 100-Euro upgrade a really bad deal. I looked for the product at my local distributor’s online store, and they only had the full version available. I contacted them to ask them why the upgrade is not listed, and they told me that they simply don’t carry that SKU.

Is it a Steinberg policy, or is it them just being lazy? I see the upgrade product in other distributors’ websites, like Sweetwater. We only have one local distributor here in Korea, and I don’t really trust them, because of their track record.

I tried submitting a ticket via Steinberg website, but it directs me to my local distributor, who bounced me back to Steinberg. Can Steinberg PLEASE have a proper customer support? And can somebody please let me but the upgrade using my currency??

I don’t think it’s Steinberg policy & more likely what the local distributor wants to do. In the US I’ve used Sweetwater for upgrades just fine. But they are huge and maybe your local market isn’t large enough to justify whatever extra resources it takes to sell upgrades.

Or…

I’d suggest adding the “presales” tag to your post title

Just got another email from them saying that they are not carrying the SKU because it’s “Steinberg’s policy to only sell upgrades at Steinberg website,” which is bull crap. There’s a reason why I don’t trust these scumbags. How do I report this to Steinberg? I just posted on Cubase Facebook group, but I want to speak to Steinberg’s representative directly.

Why don’t you just buy it from the Steinberg online shop? I live in Thailand and did it that way without having any problems.

As I mentioned in the post, the exchange rate is really bad at the moment. I don’t wanna pay more than I have to.

The 99,99 Euro (109 $) is what you need to pay in Korea. You don’t get it any cheaper unless the currency is dollars and the location within the US > then you must ask a friend to buy it in the US and send you the download access code (DAC) to save the 9 bucks (worth 2 beers in Itaewon)!
