Recovery

Our Mission

To provide assistance to individuals and communities overwhelmed by all hazards, including acts of terrorism, natural disasters or other emergencies.

What We Do

Our Individual Assistance (IA) Division provides direct assistance to individuals and households, as well as state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments to support recovery efforts nationwide. Under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, IA delivers five statutory programs, coordinates Mass Care and Emergency Assistance, and collaborates with other federal agencies, SLTT governments, and non-profit, faith-based, and voluntary organizations to provide support for disaster survivors.

Our Public Assistance Division is responsible for providing leadership and overall management of the Public Assistance Program, the Fire Management Assistance Grant Program and the Community Disaster Loan Program. The purpose of Public Assistance is to support communities’ recovery from major disasters by providing them with assistance for debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures, and restoring public infrastructure. Local governments, states, tribes, territories and certain private nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.

Our Interagency Coordination Division furthers the objectives of the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) by coordinating federal interagency support for timely, effective, and integrated disaster field operations. The division works to align incident operations and foster resource sharing to streamline, simplify, and support individuals and communities, as described in the NDRF.

Our Recovery Reporting Analytics Division makes data accessible in an integrated, timely, and accessible manner, increasing business intelligence and analytic capabilities across the enterprise. The division produces targeted analytical products to inform Directorate-wide decision making, including budget formulation and execution.

Our Recovery Technology Programs Division enables mission capabilities for Recovery and its partners through IT advocacy, governance, process improvement, stewardship, and innovative technologies. The division increases operational efficiency through the application of cost effective, flexible, and sustainable technology solutions.
