I never ask for money unless you already got a preview sketch. I always want to be fair. You could only find a few decent artists that prefer this arrangement. Others will ask for your money upfront.
If by any chance during the pre-sketch period, you decided to cancel, its only fair to notify me asap. You have a lot of time to drop me a note if you want to back out. I always ask for confirmation before I agree to start drawing, so please be sure about your answer once you hit that reply button.
