INSEAD, ‘The Business School for the World,’ trusted Zoom to connect with students

INSEAD is one of the world’s largest graduate business schools, offering students a global educational experience. With campuses located in France, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and the United States, INSEAD’s business education and research spans four regions. The school attracts more than 1,500 participants in its degree programmes and 11,000 participants in its Executive Education programmes each year.

With a global student body and hybrid learning model, INSEAD required an online learning platform that was reliable and user-friendly. The school’s goal was to evolve with the times, prioritising the right digital capabilities to provide an optimal student experience.

Enabling a seamless transition to virtual teaching and learning

INSEAD explored various hybrid education solutions before selecting Zoom’s unified communication platform. By leveraging the power of Zoom Meetings, INSEAD was able to connect students and faculty across multiple campuses and time zones, allowing them to collaborate and communicate seamlessly. This not only made it easier for students to attend classes from anywhere, but it also allowed them to connect with their peers and teachers in a more meaningful way, creating a more engaging and immersive learning experience.

“Zoom made a lot of sense because it was easy to use and it also offered a lower cost option for us. We were fortunate to switch to Zoom before the COVID-19 pandemic crisis unfolded,” said Saw Choo Tatt, INSEAD’s chief information officer.

By upgrading its learning experience with Zoom, INSEAD efficiently and cost-effectively transitioned to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to using Zoom Meetings for hybrid learning, INSEAD uses Zoom Webinars for online events hosted for their students, faculty, alumni, employees, and community members.

Advancing into smart classrooms with Zoom Rooms

INSEAD incorporated Zoom Rooms to evolve its teaching spaces and develop a hybrid learning experience that is future-ready and can address flexible learning modalities.

“We are very satisfied with the Zoom solutions. When evaluating solutions for our upgraded teaching spaces and meeting rooms, it is logical for us to consider options that integrate seamlessly with Zoom, as our experience with this platform has been positive,” said Saw.

INSEAD leverages Zoom Rooms features such as video screen sharing, whiteboards, and annotation resources to create a more engaging and interactive learning experience for their students. These tools have enabled instructors to explain complex concepts, provide visual aids, and collaborate with students in real time.

Zoom’s ease of use and focus on customer satisfaction impressed Saw. “Zoom builds products that put the user at the center of their design. I think that sets Zoom apart from a lot of other platforms,” he said.

Zoom has enabled INSEAD to operate with greater efficiency and given students and staff the flexibility to focus on learning online, enabling them to optimise their time building networks and relationships when meeting in person. 

Zoom effortlessly blends into INSEAD’s teaching and learning environment and provides flexibility in designing programmes while connecting participants from across the globe. INSEAD can now turn its attention to reaching more students to achieve its vision of transforming the business world.
