Expand Expanding CloseIn a summer update from lodging rental marketplace Airbnb, customers can now search for accommodations that include an EV charger in their stay. Airbnb made the search addition after years of EV drivers requesting the option.
Expand Expanding CloseTesla and Airbnb, a home-sharing platform, have been getting closer through partnerships over the last year. First directly between the two companies when they announced a new program to install charging stations at Airbnb host homes and then through SolarCity after the announcement of the merger with Tesla. The solar installer partnered with Airbnb to install solar arrays at a $1,000 discount for hosts.
Now that Tesla is expanding SolarCity’s market to Florida, it opens up the partnership to several more eligible hosts.

Tesla already has a partnership with Airbnb to install ‘Destination chargers’ at the homes of Airbnb hosts, but if the merger with SolarCity goes through on November 17, the partnership will soon extend to also installing solar arrays through a new partnership between the home-sharing company and SolarCity.

Tesla Motors operates two kinds of charging networks: the Superchargers, a network of DC fast charging stations for long distance driving, and the Destination Charging network; level 2 chargers installed at restaurants and hotels to charge once you arrived at your destination.
While the Superchargers have been available in all markets Tesla operates in, Destination charging has only been available in North America and Asia. Today Tesla announced via Twitter that the program will come to Europe “soon”.

Today, Airbnb announced a partnership with Tesla to install charging stations at some Airbnb host locations. Eligible Airbnb hosts will receive a free Tesla Wall Connector, but they will have to pay for the installation, which can cost between $200 and $900 according to Airbnb. The program is already in place in California with 9 locations equipped with charging stations (see picture below).
