Shqipe Vela

Shqipe coordinates the overall project portfolio at the EITI International Secretariat and acts as programme manager for the organisation’s largest initiative, the Opening Extractives programme. 

Prior to joining EITI, she gained extensive expertise in anti-corruption, energy and extractive industries while working with organisations including the World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF, Millennium Challenge Corporation and USAID. 

She holds a double MA degree in Public Administration & Public Policy, from Central European University and the University of York, along with a BA degree in Management & Entrepreneurship from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In her free time, Shqipe enjoys reading, as well as mentoring aspiring women professionals in her field.
