Abstract
Poliovirus double stranded RNA (the “replicative form”) contains poly (A) at the 3′-end of the plus (genome-like) strand which is longer than poly (A) found in polio virion RNA. Digestion with 3′-exonuclease, hybridization to labelled poly (A) or poly (U), and affinity chromatography reveal that the minus strand contains 3′-terminal poly (U). These findings may imply that polio RNA replication proceeds through circular structures.
