I know not everyone's a fan of the Touch Bar but it "was" great for swiping through ads when watching YouTube.
That functionality now seems to have disappeared, any idea why please?

Ok feel a bit foolish here but have solved the problem, it wasn't a YouTube/Apple conspiracy!
I updated Safari recently and unbeknownst to me it reset the keyboard preferences!
System Preferences > Keyboard > checkbox "Touch Bar shows App controls"
Feel a bit of an idiot but just in case anyone else notices this

how did you fix it on Safari please?
Relaunch the finder by going into the force quit applications window and it works.
well they got rid of it because they found out through a viral post twitter, im sad now I cant even skip ads with my MacBook Pro
I've been having the same issue -- is there any fix to get it to work on Chrome as well?

Yes, and reset the PRAM
It doesn't let you to force quit on the Force Quit App.... it only says relaunch. When I click relaunch and try it, it doesn't work... Please help...?
