I seem to remember that I could swipe left or right with 3 fingers between programs on my MacBook Air (running Sonoma 14.6.1) trackpad. I just check my trackpad settings (screen shot below) and there is no swiping (I can scroll up & down).
Can anyone lend some advice? Thanks, L.

That setting allows swiping between full screen programs (i.e. after you've clicked the green button in the title bar of an app window for more than one app). It also works to switch between Spaces, which is how I use it to switch between apps.
