The P-key on my Macbook Pro doesn't work properly.

All of a sudden my P-key stopped working properly. Sometimes when I restart my laptop or in safe mode the P works again. No idea whether it is a software problem or a hardware problem.

After a few minutes of typing the P it disappears again. I have tried so many things, but none of them seems to work.

My laptop has had several problems with the keyboard in the past like a malfunctioning spacebar and other issues.

Apple refused to resolve those problems under warranty.

Only my screen that peeled off got replaced by Apple. I got the final update of MacOs Monterey.

The customer service agent told me that there are no further updates anymore.

I still don't know if it's a software or a hardware problem.

I bought the computer in 2017. But it wasn't used for almost 2,4 years. So hardly 5 years in use.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? My laptop is considered vintage.

You can try —

How to clean the keyboard of your MacBook or MacBook Pro

Keyboards are replaced not repaired, this would be a top case replacement, which typically include top case/keyboard/battery/trackpad

Single key issue typically point to a hardware problem.
