Right AirPod pro doesn’t work

My right AirPod pro doesn’t connect at all anymore. I mailed it in for service but Apple’s only response was to offer to “repair” for $250 (more than the retail price of pro airpod)

This is obviously a complete rip off and provided no explanation as to why one of my AirPods doesn’t work. Apple claims that they’re both completely ruined but the only problem I have is one AirPod not connecting. So obviously the “repair” service is purely a scam that sells people replacement products at above retail prices.

what can I do?
