USERNAME_CONFLICT_WITH_EXISTING_APPLE_ID

We recently joined apple business manager. When I add my domain and turned on Google Workspace sync a handful of users started getting emails that said, "Update Your Apple ID. Flytedesk Inc, has claimed @flytedesk.com. Starting Sept 14, 2024 you will no longer be able to use "xyz@flytedesk.com" as your Apple ID. Choose a different email address to contine using this Apple ID." My questions is, what exactly will happen to user xyz@flytedesk.com on Sept, 14th? Will they no longer be able to login to their computer?

Additionally, the people who are receiving this are not showing up in [Users] section of the apple business manager. Will they start to show up after Sept 14th?

Any help understanding this situation and what to do/not do is most appreciated!

If they don't change their email address associated, it will be assigned a temporary Apple ID. This typically looks like user-domain.com@temporary.appleid.com.

The users will begin to show up after they change their email address, or after September 14th, whichever is sooner.

If they are logging in with their existing Apple ID, they should still be able to log in with the same account (the only thing here affected by the change is the recovery of the password). If you are using a service like Jamf Connect, Mosyle Fuse, Kandji Passport, Jumpcloud, or XCreds, nothing will change.

I've been there. It's terrifying for you. It's terrifying for your user. It's a bit of a pain. But when the person with the password to the account holder account for Apple Developer, or the person with the password for the Podcast uploads, or the person with the password for the APNS cert account leaves and didn't document, and is on bad terms or is otherwise unreachable, you'll be glad you did this.
