View stereo channels in FCP?

I'm trying to edit footage shot on my iPhone 15 Pro Max in FCP.

I need to be able to edit each stereo track individually, but cannot find a way of seeing both tracks in the timeline. 🤬

What am I missing / doing wrong?

Thanks.

If it truly is a stereo recording then, after you've selected Dual Mono, if you uncheck the bottom one you'll hear just the left channel and uncheck the top one (and check the bottom one) you'll hear the right channel. They'll come through in the centre - if you wish to move them left or right you'll need two copies of the file on the timeline (one above the other) and pan them as you require.

Stereo channels are paired, you can't separate them.

Making dual mono channels, as Tom said, then each panned full left and right respectively, from a true stereo recording, will let you manipulate each separately.

But if the original was recorded with just one mic, you have mono, no matter how many channels you have, or what you do to them.
