I have spreadsheet similar to a check book register with debits and credits in different columns and then a third column with the running total. Example below
I would like to add a column with a checkbox so that it only changes the total column when that row has a checkbox. I would like to keep debits and credits in separate columns. Example below.
What would be the formula in running total column using an IF formula?

Enter the starting balance in D2.
Formula in D3 is IF(A3,D2−B3+C3,D2)
If the box in A is ticked ("TRUE") then calculate the new balance, else show the previous balance.
