Restore date of the photos

Hello,

I used a software to compress the photos of my iphone but now the dates and position informatio of the photos are changed.

Is there a way to:

  • restore the original date and position of the photos?

or

  • overwrite the photos on the iphone directories with the original photos that I have saved on my PC?

or

  • extract and overwrite the photos from a backup made with itunes?

Thanks

iPhone 8, iOS 16

I always use 3rd party tools like GraphicConverter or exiftool to copy internal metadata date to the filename. Then if some app deletes the metadata date when re-encoding the image or movie, it is a breeze to copy the date from the filename to the metadata or, if the app changes the filename, use exiftool to copy it from the originals. I use a Mac for that, and have not checked if there are similar tools for mobile devices.
