Cosmetic damage is not covered under AppleCare+ or the standard one year warranty on iPhone. If you didn't put a screen protector on your iPhone, something every Apple Store sells and installs daily, that's unfortunate, but something which had you done, would avoid any cosmetic damage. It's not too late. The least expensive and good thing you can do is install a good screen protector, which will likely hide any scratches you've gotten and prevent any future ones.
