Why deleting emails affects server inbox and POP configures

This seems to be happening or I don't understand the feature.

I interpret I would have to move/delete the email from my local MacOS mail inbox for the copy on the server to be deleted.

I am configured for POP.

Please help us help you by giving us details.

We can neither see nor touch your computer in this forum setting, so can only effectively help when we have equipment details from you. Otherwise you get a bunch of generalities that may not be appropriate to your device or its operating system version.

Also your equipment line says "MacBook Pro (2021)", a portable computer, but this forum is for a limited edition iMac desktop model Made between 2017 and 2021. So that is a bit confusing.

IMAP leaves the master copies of e-mail on the server. Clients cache local copies for display, but synchronize with the server.

POP has each client copy messages to local storage. Often this is followed by the client immediately deleting the copy on the server. If two clients (e.g., iPhone, Mac) are connected to the same account and are using POP, and deletion of messages on the server, then there are going to be "fights" over which client gets which message.
