This doesn't work for blocking apps. The "allowed apps" section only has a few apps listed, it looks like only the apps that came with the phone.

To block certain apps like TikTok and Snapchat on your teen's iPhone, you can use the built-in parental control features provided by Apple. Apple offers a feature called "Screen Time" that allows you to set app restrictions and manage usage on iOS devices. Here's how you can enable parental controls and block specific apps:

Step 1: Set Up Screen Time:

  1. Open the Settings app on your teen's iPhone.
  2. Tap on "Screen Time."
  3. Tap "Turn On Screen Time."

Step 2: Create a Screen Time Passcode:

  1. Tap "Use Screen Time Passcode" and set a passcode. Make sure to use a passcode that your teen doesn't know to prevent them from changing the restrictions.

Step 3: Set App Limits:

  1. Go back to "Screen Time" in the Settings app.
  2. Tap on "App Limits."
  3. Tap "Add Limit."
  4. Choose the category of apps you want to limit, such as "Social Networking" or "Entertainment."
  5. Set the time limit for the category (e.g., 1 hour per day).
  6. Tap "Add" to save the limit.

Step 4: Block Specific Apps:

  1. Go back to "Screen Time" in the Settings app.
  2. Tap on "Always Allowed."
  3. Find the apps you want to block (e.g., TikTok and Snapchat) and swipe left on each app to remove it from the "Allowed Apps" list.

Step 5: Enable Content & Privacy Restrictions:

  1. Go back to "Screen Time" in the Settings app.
  2. Tap on "Content & Privacy Restrictions."
  3. Turn on "Content & Privacy Restrictions" and set a passcode (you can use the same or different passcode as the Screen Time passcode).
  4. Under the "Allowed Apps" section, toggle off any apps you want to block.

By following these steps, you can restrict your teen's access to specific apps like TikTok and Snapchat on their iPhone. Keep in mind that using parental controls is an essential step in guiding your teen's device usage, but it's also essential to have open communication with them about why you are setting these restrictions and the importance of responsible online behavior.

Hey, there, this is how I block my kids on the YouTube app, for example. Go into Screen time, select your kid, then go to App Limit. I Added Limit category for say the YouTube app, but I gave the allowed time of only 1 minute. After that they get blocked out. ( make sure you enable the Blocked out when you add the category). 1 minute in the app is basically blocked out ( zero minutes doesn’t work). However, because I let them use YouTube sometimes, ( my son likes to watch football games on it which is fine), that’s why I allow this app at all. For Social Media, that would be something I plan on never allowing. For that, make sure that your child does not have the Social Media Apps on their phones at all. If they do, delete them directly off their phones first. Next, go into Screen time, and select their name or account. Then click on Content and Privacy Restrictions. Then click on ITunes and App Purchases. Where it says Always Require Password, check this off. So now, if your kid tries to install social media apps, they won’t be allowed. You can also set it to Don’t Allow for Installing Apps all together.
