Apple TV Up Next Disappeared

You aren't getting it!!! The UpNext menu is COMPLETELY GONE!!! It just disappeared completely. It was there yesterday and now it is gone!!!!! WTF is going on at apple??? Now I have to remember what shows I was watching and what streaming platform they are on!!!!!!!!!

I know this thread is old, I'm just putting this here in case anyone else runs across this maybe it will help. This was what fixed my experience of having the same issue. I had to sign out on my Apple TV 4K (even though it still showed my name as the default user), and then sign back in. Open Settings on Apple TV. Go to Users and Accounts, then select the name listed as default user. Select Remove User from Apple TV. Then once I signed back in, the Up Next row reappeared. Hope this helps someone.

As of June 1, 2024 I lost the Up Next and Recently Watched on my Apple TV 4k. Freelander68’s post actually worked. Here’s what I did: Settings> Users and Accounts > Selected the Default User > Scrolled all the way to the bottom and selected Remove User from Apple TV > in the pop-up window selected Remove > and then in the Users and Accounts screen, selected “Add Default User…”. I entered my apple id and password. A code will be sent out which appeared on my iPhone. I entered the code and the Default User was set. Up Next and Recently Watched are now appearing. Good Luck!

This thread seems a bit old, but I want to report that this still happens. My "what's next" on my Apple TV keeps disappearing as well. I go into settings and turn it back on to appear, but it keeps happening now and then, and it doesn't always appear right away after I change it back in settings.

It seems ironic that I have been having this issue since canceling Apple TV, and no, I'm being forced to feed Apply TV programming.

Up Next just vanished. Apple TV no longer connecting to other TV apps and has lost progress of all shows currently being viewed. I now have to connect through separate apps (e.g. Crave TV, Prime, BritBox etc.) as Apple TV browser is only offering Apple shows. Very annoying and needs fixing.

The Up Next listing in the Top Shelf is for the Home Screen of the Apple TV box, not for inside the TV app.

The Up Next listing inside the TV app is below the big carousel images. In earlier versions tvOS, these would match the selected tile in the first row (Up Next), but since tvOS 16.2 (December), the top space is used to present various ‘featured’ shows.

I’m having the same problem on my iPad!

Go to settings, apps, tv, Home Screen top shelf and click till up next shows

I tried what Freelander with, it didn’t work, but so I just went into settings and just restarted it. I don’t know if the combination of both did it but definitely it’s back

It’s not fixed for me, just started happening a couple weeks ago

Reboot your Apple TV and it will update with Up next working.

This setting changed after watching a show on Amazon — before the show Up Next was working as normal, after the show it was gone. Setting is correct in TV app preferences. Restarts do not help. Seems like a bug, but came out of nowhere (days after most recent update). What has happened to Apple’s software quality …?

Apple is currently having issues with Apple TV. I had to find out from my MLS team’s Twitter because Apple won’t admit when their stuff is broken. It’s all broken and doesn’t recognize that you’re a subscriber.
