Whoopi Goldberg isn’t going to take Donald Trump‘s criticism without lobbing back some of her own at the former president. This morning’s episode of The View began with Goldberg and Sunny Hostin defending themselves after Trump slammed both of them at a recent rally.

Trump, who saw his opponent Kamala Harris‘ Tuesday (Oct. 8) appearance on The View, criticized the Vice President as well as the co-hosts, telling a crowd yesterday, that Hostin is “dumber than Kamala” and is “one dumb woman.”

Trump also said yesterday, “I watched that stupid View where you have these really dumb people. You know Whoopi Goldberg said, ‘Would you participate in a movie?’ She made some movie on basketball. This was before I ran for politics. She said, ‘Oh, you’re so great. If you ever ran for president you’d win.'”

He continued, “I’ve hired Whoopi to work for me as a comedian before this stuff, long time ago. And I went, and I’m not particularly shy about what I hear. Her mouth was so foul, she was so filthy dirty, disgusting, half the place left. I said I’d never hire her again.”

When the clip of Trump’s commentary concluded, Goldberg proclaimed, “I was filthy, and stand on that fact! I have always been filthy.”

Looking right at the camera, she said, “And you knew that when you hired me. I headlined, babe, at your casino, which I might have continued to play had you not run it into the ground. Listen, how dumb are you? You hired me four times. You go to William Morris and get the things because I know y’all are going to be looking for it … You hired me four times and you didn’t know what you were getting? How dumb are you?”

Later in the show, Goldberg brought up Trump’s infamous Access Hollywood tape after Sara Haines suggested Trump might “like a little dirty [language]” based on how many swears he uses. Goldberg interrupted her to say, “You know how dirty I wasn’t? I never grabbed anybody by their genitalia.”

When it was Hostin’s turn, she delivered a scathing “personal legal note” to Trump, thanking him for his “lies” and “alleged crimes,” which she said give The View daily material for the show. “You help us do our jobs, and I’m so appreciative,” she said.

In the same cutting tone, Hostin continued, “Because of people like you, a former prosector and legal expert can become a fixture on a show like this, and again I’m so grateful. I admit I might not have spent as much time in a courtroom as you have. I was also recognized with a special achievement award by the Department of Justice. You remember the Department of Justice, right? It’s the agency that’s been persuing you for decades.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
