After sucking in over $370 million at the worldwide box office, Universal Pictures‘ Twisters has been set to stream exclusively on Peacock beginning November 15.
Marking the sequel to Jan de Bont’s classic 1996 disaster pic, Twister, Twisters teamed lauded Minari helmer Lee Isaac Chung with stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing) and Glen Powell (Hit Man).
The story follows Kate (Edgar-Jones), who ever since a devastating tornado encounter, has given up chasing storms across the Oklahoma prairie to safely study them on screens in New York City. Lured back to the field by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) and a once-in-a-lifetime scientific opportunity, Kate crosses paths with Tyler (Powell), a charming daredevil and self-proclaimed tornado wrangler whose thirst for tornado-tracking adventures made him a social media sensation. As storm season intensifies with terrifying phenomena unlike anything seen before, Kate and Tyler realize they may need to work together if they are to have any chance of taming, and surviving, an unprecedented outbreak of destructive tornados.
Exec produced by Steven Spielberg, Thomas Hayslip and Ashley Jay Sandberg, pic’s cast also includes Brandon Perea, David Corenswet, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, and more. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley served as producers. Mark L. Smith’s script was based on a story by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski, which was itself based on characters created by Michael Crichton & Anne-Marie Martin. The film hit theaters via Universal on July 19.
