Lutheran Social Service Twin Cities

The Lutheran Social Service Twin Cities supports youth in the Twin Cities area who are at-risk or experiencing homelessness with nonjudgmental support and assistance and are committed to providing young people with the resources they need to launch into productive, healthy and independent lives.

Their Safe House Emergency Shelter for Youth provides an emergency crisis shelter for youth ages 16-20. Under their Housing Programs, the LifeHaven Transitional Living Program provides housing and support for teen mothers and their children in a family-style home setting. The Transitional Living Project (TLP) is a supportive program for youth ages 16-21 ready to start living in their own apartment in the community. Through their Rezek House Transitional Living Program, they offer a two-year transitional living program for homeless youth ages 16-21.

Under their Street Outreach program, their Youth Outreach program provides confidential, nonjudgmental support and assistance for youth who have run away from home or are without a stable place to stay. Their StreetWorks program is a collaborative of youth-serving nonprofits, including LSS, that have provided street-based outreach to youth experiencing homelessness in the Metro area since 1994. Streetworks also offers certification training for street outreach workers and other professionals across the state.

Finally, through their Anti-Trafficking programs, the LSS Twin Cities Cherish All Children is a ministry that equips congregations with educational tools and resources to prevent child sexual exploitation in their own communities. They also provide Sex Trafficking Education to help promote awareness at schools and in the community to prevent youth from falling prey to human traffickers.
